‘Twas the weekend before Christmas,
when all through Parker County the riders did take
for cycling and fun with the friends we did make.
The routes were drawn by your friend with good care
in hopes that all riders would soon be there.
The cyclist nestled all snug in their cycling seats
with visions of hay fields and hills to defeat.
All spring to our cycles, to our team give a whistle,
And away we all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard them exclaim, 'ere they rode out of sight,
"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a very good ride!"
RIDE DETAILS : An annual holiday ride from Weatherford. All routes start and finish utilizing the black top roads of Old Garner and travel west nearing either Mineral Wells or Millsap. The two long routes travel furthest west to Mineral Wells. There, it enters its name-sake, Hayes Rd.; thus, “Christmas Hay Ride.” (Yes, a hard effort for a play on words.) The mid-distance route has an early short-cut to arrive the backside of Millsap a tad earlier than the long route. Thereafter, the two follow the same path all the way home. While the short route lands in the little town as its furthest point before returning home. All routes contain an engaging collection of country vistas, flat stretches to clusters of hills while traveling predominately on quiet and isolated country roads. Come on out for fresh air…
