Meals & Lodging

Meals

The group meal at EHCT is a Buffet Dinner Saturday evening at the YO Ranch Resort Hotel & Convention Center Ballroom.  ($27 in advance or $30 at the door).  Doors open at 6:30. The registration price of $27 in advance and $30 on-site will include dinner, a cash bar with specials on bottles of wine and buckets of beer and margaritas, and entertainment by "POP" or Part of the Problem. There will also be a drawing for a Garmin 800 touchscreen GPS and other great door prizes. Winners must be present.

"POP" or better known as "Part of the Problem"... is just that.  This three part perfect harmony group has entertained people in the Texas Hill Country for over 20 years.  The musicians themselves have been playing all their lives.  They will do your usual cowboy tunes such as, "Poncho and Lefty", "Cattle Call" and the forever "Tumbling Tumbleweeds"; but don't get too settled because they'll throw in their own original songs of "Bluehair, Driving in my Lane", or "Terlingua Finger" or "Only Human".  You'll be able to get in a yodeling contest, so start practicing now.  You never know who'll be called up as finalist.  This is going to be a fun filled evening you will be able to interact with the band and laugh till you rip a stitch.  Don't miss out on the fun.  The YO Ranch Resort Hotel and Convention Center is located at 2033 Sidney Baker, Kerrville, Texas 78028.

All other meals are on your own. Many years ago, there were group breakfasts at Schreiner University, but there are now so many dining options in Kerrville that interest in other group meals has declined sharply. There is a wide choice of restaurants and cafes in Kerrville to suit every budget and taste. The Visitors Bureau, Visitor Guide, and Chamber of Commerce sites listed below all have dining sections. The TripAdvisor and UrbanSpoon sites offer some more ideas. Nearly all of the hotel chains offer "free" breakfasts that are at least adequate for most guests.

For those camping and preparing your own meals, Kerrville has a large HEB grocery store at 300 Main Street (trivia tidbit: HEB began in 1905 with one store in Kerrville) as well as a large number of smaller groceries and convenience stores. Be sure to check Easter opening hours of all restaurants and shops.

Lodging

There are many options for accommodations in Kerrville and the surrounding Hill Country. There is an abundance of hotels, camping facilities, RV parks and self-catering cabins. The first places to look for hotels or motels would be these three sites:

Kerrville Convention & Visitors Bureau
www.kerrvilletexascvb.com/accommodations.htm

Texas Hill Country Visitor Guide
www.hill-country-visitor.com/Kerrville_Texas

Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce
www.kerrvilletx.com/en/kerrville-lodging.html

Once you have chosen lodging, you can go to one of the many travel websites to find the best deal. Remember that some of the cabin facilities have a minimum of 2 or 3 night stays, especially in peak season. Single accommodation can also be rather hard to find in these.

The EHCT has negotiated special rates at the YO Ranch Resort Hotel where the Saturday evening meal will be offered. The hotel has set aside a block of rooms at a special rate of $83 per night for three nights on April 5-7 (check out on April 8), and it includes breakfast coupons for two for each morning. To register, ask for the group rate under EASTERBIKE. The number for the YO Ranch Respot Hotel is 830-257-4440 or toll-free at 1-877-967-3767. The YO Ranch Resort Hotel & Conference Center is located at 2033 Sidney Baker, Kerrville, Texas 78028

The Inn of the Hills Resort and Conference Center has also set aside a block of rooms at a special rate of $89 per night on April 5-7 (check out on April 8) and it includes their wonderful breakfast buffet for two. To register, ask for the group rate under "Easter Hill Country Tour". The number for the Inn of the Hills is 830-895-5000 and it is located at 1001 Junction Hwy, Kerrville, Texas 78028.

Camping

For campers, the largest and most convenient choice is Kerrville-Schreiner Park. This 517-acre camping park on the Guadalupe River about 2 miles from the ride starts at the University offers both tent sites and RV parking. About half of EHCT cyclists stay here. Formerly a part of the Texas Parks system, this park is now operated by the City of Kerrville, which has recently renovated many of the facilities. There are two main sections of the Park: the lower along the Guadalupe River, and the upper, across the highway and up the hill from the ranger station. The majority of tent sites are in the uphill section. The Park seldom fills to capacity for Easter weekend, but you should book early to assure availability.

In addition, a Google search will list several private RV parks in Kerrville.

If you experience any significant difficulties, call the Visitors Bureau at 800-221-7958 or 830-792-3535 or email them at info@kerrvilletexascvb.com
