The History of the Easter Hill Country Tour
Since 1974, the tour has been sponsored in rotation by the Lubbock Bicycle Club, the Houston Bicycle Club, the Fort Worth Bicycling Association, and the San Antonio Wheelmen.
The Texas Hill Country located in central Texas just west of Austin and Northwest of San Antonio is one of the best areas in the United States for Cycling. Each year on Easter weekend a bicycle rally centered in Kerrville brings together around 100's cyclists form as far away as Canada to enjoy the quite back roads and millions of wildflowers this area has to offer. The Easter Hill Country Tour has become a tradition among many cyclists. If the clubs stopped hosting the event there would still be a few hundred cyclists show up in Kerrville to ride. The entire History section was provided by Chris Marsh from a website that he personally maintained a few years ago. Thanks Chris.
Note from Chris: I have presented as much information on the history of the Easter Hill Country Tour as I could find. If you have any stories, artwork, pictures, etc. to add, please feel free to send them to me. If I have gotten anything wrong, also please let me know.
