The attendance jumped from 350 to 850 riders this year because of all the publicity that the Lubbock Bicycle Club did covering the 1982 tour. This was the year of the great wind storm with 80 mile per hour winds that his on Friday afternoon. The storm did hundreds of thousands of dollars of dammage when got to San Antonio and Houston. This year there were rides up in Fredricksburg on Saturday.
